Course Summary ​

  • A great refresher session following on from Course ONE; working with a full size curtain, including onsite measuring, calculations, fitting & dressing and discussion on client liaison and costing.

  • Accurate pattern matching (incl how to match the pattern line to Pelmets & Valances). Pleating to Pattern and Horizontal repeat explanation & calculation exercises.

  • Make an Eyelet curtain sample incorporating the mitred border technique. 
  • Make an operational interlined Roman blind with no visible stitching fitted to supplied chain mechanism, compliant with blind regulations. Including trimming detail, integrated side returns, integrated rod pockets and cascade/waterfall folds.

  • Accurate calculation exercises for making of a Roman blind with cascade/waterfall folds.

  • Make a London blind with overlay trim detail. Demonstration/instruction on how to make a Relaxed Roman blind, and a Sheer/Voile Roman blind.

  • Workroom demonstration on motorised blind systems.

COURSE PROGRAMME

ONSITE Level TWO – Professional Curtain Making & Soft Furnishings

This course offers advanced training for students who have completed Level ONE, reinforcing previously acquired skills, while refining techniques and mastering intricate details. Students will explore advanced methods and techniques, enhancing their expertise and confidence to deliver a diverse range of bespoke window treatments. This training is invaluable for achieving a professional, high-quality finish essential for today’s competitive market.

Day One & Two (half day – morning)

Making of a Full Size Curtain & Business Seminar

  • This is an important refresher day after completing Course ONE. Students will work on a full size curtain, including onsite measuring, calculations, including how to move a curtain on the table, fitting & dressing and discussion on client liaison and costing. This involves measuring of a window on site, calculations, designing curtain style, choice of fabric, make up, fitting and dressing of the curtain to existing fitted pole.
  • Accurate pattern joining and how to match the patten line to Pelmets. Explanation of Pleating to Pattern and Horizontal repeat calcualtions.
  • Further comprehensive advise on preparation of an Estimate of Costs for window dressings, when running a business.

Day Two (half day – afternoon) & Three 

Eyelet Curtains

  • Students will make an Eyelet heading sample curtain designed with mitred contrast borders to leading edge, hemline and outer edge. This technique can also be applied to blinds, cushions and other soft furnishings.

Day Four & Five

Advanced Roman Blinds with Side Returns

  • Make an operational interlined Roman blind with no visible stitching fitted to supplied chain mechanism, compliant with blind regulations. Including trimming detail to lower edge, integrated side returns, integrated rod pockets with eyelets and cascade/waterfall folds.
  • Accurate calculations for rod pocket spacing waterfall/cascade folds.
  • Demonstration on how to make sheer/voile Roman blinds.
  • Demonstration on how to make London blinds and relaxed/scalloped fold blinds.
  • Workroom demonstration and discussion on motorised blind systems.

London, Relaxed & Sheer Blinds

  • Make a London blind with overlay trim detail.
  • Demonstration/instruction on how to make a Relaxed Roman blind, and a Sheer/Voile Roman blind.

Our 2 day course ‘Advanced Making of Blinds’ is the same programme incorporated in our ‘Level TWO Professional Curtain Making & Soft Furnishings’. If you would like to attend Level TWO and have completed both our courses Course ONE and 2 days Advanced Making of blinds, you only need to attend Day 1, 2 & 3 to be awarded the Accredited Certificate. The fee is equivalent to 3 days tuition – £597 (please contact us to discuss this attendance option).
